Work Related Injuries
Comprehensive Care of the Injured Employee - Presentation
Employer with an Injured Employee

We resolve the employer's concerns with an "injured employee" within 30 days
When an employee reports an injury at work, the employer immediately asks himself the following questions: how bad is the injury , will he be off of work, will there be any restrictions, will the doctor give a good opinion, how much is this going to cost, and how long is it going to take for him to recover?
Problem
When an employee is injured while at work the employer and employee are faced with the following problems:
- What caused the injury?
- Does the employee require immediate medical care?
- Where does the employer send the injured employee?
- Will the employee be off of work and for how long?
- When will the employee return to work?
- What restrictions will the employee have?
- Can I trust the physician rendering the services?
- How will I stay informed on the employee's status or progress?
- What will be the cost for medical services?

His association with other highly respected specialists allows him to coordinate the needs of any injured employee at an efficient and effective manner.
We are a highly specialized, multi-disciplinary Medical Institute that focuses on the treatment of acute and chronic pain with over 15 years of experience in treating injured employees. We understand and appreciate both sides of the injured employee equation. We provide an individualized treatment plan for each injured employee and keep the employer informed.
Employers and Employees:
We are proud to be of service to all patients that suffer from the pain. The focus of this current program will include the Department of Labor, and employers that are not subscribers to the Texas Department of Insurance - Workers' Compensation Division.
Some examples of employees that have been successfully treated in the past are as follows:
Department of Labor Employers - governmental employees
- Immigration
- US Postal Services
- Homeland Security
- Military Bases
- VA Hospital
- Others
The Carrasco Pain Institute performs a thorough history and physical, outlines a treatment plan, provides a work status report, and if necessary prescribes medications, rehabilitation program, treatment plan specific to each incident, and an estimate of cost to the employer
Provided that we receive a job description from the employer and we are allowed to proceed with the treatment plan without interruptions of care; the employee will either remain at work full duty or will be maintained at work with limitations.
At or before 30 days, the patient will undergo objective testing to determine the need for additional care or resolution of the injury.
Common Concerns for the Employer and Employee
Employers out of the Loop
Our experience has been that the employer feels like other medical care providers are keeping them out of the loop regarding the patient's care and they had no clue how long this was going to drag out.
To keep the employer informed, our physicians provide a report within 24 hours of each office visit as well as a work status report. Thus, the employer and the injured employee are well informed throughout the whole treatment and recovery process.
Having to Pay Workers' Compensation Benefits
With other medical providers the employer and employee have both felt like they were not getting their monies worth and that the system was ripping them off and keeping the employee off of work causing them to pay additional workers' compensation premiums. Additionally, the employee wants to avoid using up vacation time, sick time, and desires to receive a full paycheck, not a discounted paycheck.
The employer and the employee both desire to continue their pre-injury employment status. To do this, we ask that the employer will attempt to accommodate any restrictions that may exist early in the injury.
They understand that "good medical care given early is less expensive in the long run".
Our customers know our quality of care and our experience of either maintaining or returning employees back to work. They also appreciate the compassion and quality of care that their employee receives.

Minimize Your Concerns
The Physician's Experience
Dr. Carrasco is fellowship trained in the area of pain management and has over 15 years of experience treating injured employees from across Texas. He understands the workers' comp. process from both the employer's and the employee's standpoint.
Your employee will receive the highest quality of care in a concise and efficient manner.
Communication
You will receive a report including the plan of care and employment status of the injured employee within 24 hours of each visit. You will have access to our Clinical Nurse Specialist who has also over 15 years of experience working with all types of workers' comp. patients. Our Administrator is also available to discuss any administrative concerns.
Employee is Maintained at Work
Unlike some providers who immediately take the employee off of work, often for 30-60 days without question, you are assured that we intend the keep the employee at work if at all possible. In almost every case, the employee can be maintained at work with or without limitations. We make every effort to provide limitations that are safe for the employee and the employer. We are available to discuss any immediate changes that may be required to the employment limitations.
Our 30 Day Assurance
Leave the guess work to us.
We ensure that if we are allowed to proceed with the initial treatment plan, we aim to provide an updated treatment plan based on objective examination and testing of the employee. In many cases, they will only require follow up visits, and in some cases they will require additional rehabilitation, and in rare cases they may require surgical opinions. In either case, we will schedule the visits, provide the rehab, and arrange a surgical opinion from experienced and qualified surgeons.
High Quality Medical Care at a Fair Price
We will provide an estimate of anticipated cost during the first 30 days of care.
Being that the majority of employee's care is provided in our facility, we are able to control the utilization of appropriate medical services for each injured employee. Our 16,000 sq ft Institute includes clinical offices, a procedural/surgical suite, infusion center, rehabilitation facility, and clinical laboratory. Because of this, we are able to monitor the effectiveness of each and every service that the injured employee receives. The employer will be informed of the need for other specialized diagnostic or therapeutic testing and treatments prior to services rendered.
"Proper medical care given early is less expensive and more effective for both the employer and the employee".
